NOVEMBER 11: COMMEMORATION OF THE END OF THE WORLD WAR I

During the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of the World War I, Eastern American Diocese was the host of the central commemoration on the North American continent that was held in Washington, DC on July 28, 2018. On Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 as the inaugural event for the Commemoration of the Centennial of “The Day the Serbian Flag flew at the White House”, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, Episcopal Patron of the Centennial Commemoration, was invited by Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX), co-chairman of the Serbian Congressional Caucus, as Guest Chaplain, to read the Opening Prayer in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.
On the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the end of the World War I, with the blessing of His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej, Bishop of Eastern America, the Department of Christian Education organized a visual-literary exhibit “Over There, So Far Away: 1918-2018”. This visual-literary exhibit was organized in cooperation with non profit organization “Art Exchange” and Association for Nurturing the Tradition and Culture of City of Valjevo in Serbia.
Exhibit traveled throughout the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 2018 and 2019.
